The twist this time in the Alex Rider series is that MI5 isn't really on Alex's side anymore. In a way, they are, but they disagree with his theory after he swiped proof from Gregorovich showing the one and only millionaire aka video game console inventor Damian Cray has links to him. Alex then is in Yassen's hands. In the middle of it, Alex's girlfriend Sabina Pleasure has a sick family to care for and is now curious enough about where Alex has to go all the time, and doesn't believe him after telling the truth. Sabina is the least of Alex's worries right now, however, soon inside a video game with lava, snakes, jungles and lots of blood, something even today we haven't quite invented.
Now, this Alex Rider is certainly cheesy, especially when Alex has a shower in the middle of the game with everyone after him, and when a killer says he doesn't kill children and Alex is spared up until the final blow. It however, is certainly much better than the last instalment, Skeleton Key, and is mostly smart and certainly strong when Alex shows off a method of how to steal tickets and especially when Alex does some incredible stunts riding through a cruise ship with every direction a possible catastrophe. Out of all the Alex Riders that I've reviewed so far, this one is the most entertaining.
