So 10 Things I Hate About You is about two sisters, Katarina (Kat for short) and Bianca, and Bianca wants to go out to parties and date new guys, but her father is against it so much that his final rule is she isn't allowed until Kat goes with her, and Kat is one of the most stubborn girls you will ever see on screen. Soon, it becomes giant gossip to a young Joseph Gordon-Levitt named Cameron and his friend. Cameron being interested in Bianca, he decides to go to Joey, another boy in love with Bianca, to help them convince bad punk Patrick played by a supremely handsome Heath Ledger, to get paid to flirt with Kat. I have no idea how they can afford all this stuff, but oh well. It's a good and rather romantic system.
Not all teen's movies are gripping. Nothing could make me like The Art of Getting by or The DUFF, but things are rather fresh here. Julia Stiles has that perfect staring and gravity-filled acting, giving her and Ledger quite the chemistry. What matters a lot in a movie is how it starts, and I think you'll get gripped into the story when you try to figure out the naughty rate of each character. Because of Kat and Patrick's relationship development and how many bumps it takes, the time goes by quickly and even though I don't think I'll watch this from beginning to end again, I really felt transported into the world. For instance, there's a scene where Patrick decides not to kiss Kat after the dance because he's worried for her well being since they're drunk, but Kat sees it like he's too scared they'll get in to a relationship. Cameron and Bianca's relationship was quite cute as well. I didn't really enjoy how the main teacher overacts. Sometimes, when you know twenty frowning faces are looking at the guy, it isn't as funny.
Anyway, in short, I hate the way it's so serious, and how I wanted this to be tedious. I hate it that Heath Ledger is gone, I hate it that I actually enjoyed more scenes than I foresaw, but mostly I hate how I don't hate this movie. I enjoyed myself, I won't forget it, it's worth a viewie.
